How to Choose Your Ladder to Roof a House

Now and then, you should fix something at your house. And the most difficult thing is when it comes to roof a house as it can cause severe accidents. It means you should pick right ladders for supporting you to do any kind repair. Even though there are several different styles of ladders, the two most common are the step ladder and the extension ladder. The ladder everybody needs for roofing is an extension ladder.

In spite of this, your ladder needs to be long enough to not only reach the eave. When setting at the proper angle, extend at least three feet above it. That gives you something to hang on to as you climb on and off the ladder. A good length for many homes is a 28-footer. That’s long enough to reach two stories, yet gives you all double rungs for good footing on one-story work.

Pay attention to the weight as well. Ladders are divided into five different duty ratings, based on the amount of weight they are designed to carry and it includes your weight plus any tools or materials you might carry while on the ladder. The lightest is Light Duty Type III with 200 Pounds Max Load. Then Medium Duty Type II with 225 Pounds Max Load. The third one is Heavy Duty Type I – 250 Pounds Max Load, and Extra Heavy Duty Type IA – 300 Pounds Max Load, Special Duty Type IAA – 375 Pounds Max Load

Fiberglass ladder is a better choice when it comes to roofing though aluminum is lighter.  You can still get wood, but aluminum or fiberglass is much more common choices today. The heavier weight of fiberglass gives a more secure feeling, especially when the ladder is extended. It’s also much safer around overhead electric lines.
